Microfilm
was one of the first breakthroughs in document management
technology. When it was introduced and even today many organisations
with huge volumes of paper-based data availed of a microfilm
solution to alleviate their document management problems.
Like
many forerunners of new technology however, Microfilm has
many faults. It is associated with slow, bulky and expensive
retrieval equipment and inefficiency in terms of user capability.
DigiScan
can capture the data contained on Microfilm Roll (both 16mm
and 35mm), Microfiche Jackets or Aperture Cards and convert
it to digital format, thereby reintroducing it to multiple
users and enabling its swift retrieval.
Once
DigiScan have digitised and published this data to CD-ROM
it is indexed to the original formula. Each CD comes with
stand-alone software enabling you to retrieve, view and
share via e-mail or fax with a few keyboard strokes. Equally,
DigiScan can incorporate the captured data to your existing
document management software package.
Back-up
copies of each CD for guaranteed security and multiple access
are available free of charge.
"We
had over 35,000 Aperture Cards with one manual reader and
no plotting capabilities. DigiScan scanned the 35,000 cards
onto our network and developed a CD database system for
our efficient archiving. Now we can retrieve, plot, e-mail
or edit any image or document in seconds."
